Course proposals and revisions
If you plan to offer a new course, you’ll work with your department to design the course including its learning outcomes and a model syllabus. Requests for new courses are submitted by academic department specialists in Coursedog and typically go to the Curriculum Committee for review.
Removing a student from your class
If a student does not attend your first class meeting and either does not let you know beforehand or explain within 24 hours why they were absent, you can drop the student in order to make room for a student on your course’s waiting list.
If a student misses an excessive number of class meetings and/or is unable to complete a meaningful amount of work for the class due to absence, you may withdraw them from the course or give them a failing grade—even if their absences have been excused.
However, in the case of international students, please check with International Student and Scholar Affairs (ISSA) before taking any action. Dropping below full-time status might negatively affect an international student’s immigration status.
Please see the absence policy in Coursedog for more information.
